Optimization and Artificial Intelligence (AI) Applications is an interdisciplinary field that leverages advanced mathematical optimization techniques and AI algorithms to solve complex real-world problems. The integration of optimization methods with AI allows for improved decision-making, enhanced problem-solving capabilities, and efficient resource allocation in various industries. This approach is particularly powerful in fields such as logistics, energy, healthcare, and autonomous driving, where optimal solutions are crucial for real-time implementation and cost-effectiveness.
This workshop aims to introduce fundamentals of optimization and AI including machine learning based optimization, deep learning, reinforcement learning, and their applications in different areas. Special attention will be given to algorithmic approaches, model development, and real-world case studies that demonstrate the synergy between optimization and AI. Additionally, the collaboration between TU Ilmenau and AIMS Rwanda will be highlighted, fostering further research and innovation in this rapidly growing area.
Invitation
We are pleased to invite you to the workshop Optimization and Artificial Intelligence Applications from 23rd to 24th July 2025 at TU Ilmenau (Room 4005, Zusebau, Helmholtzplatz 5, 98693 Ilmenau). The workshop is part of the DAAD project “Hochschulkooperationen mit den African Institutes for Mathematical Sciences (AIMS) II – Systems Optimization for Sustainable Resources Utilization” led by Prof. Pu Li (Process Optimization Group of Technische Universität Ilmenau, Germany) in collaboration with the German Research Chair Prof. Abebe Geletu at the African Institute for Mathematical Sciences (AIMS Rwanda).
